Holy moly, guys and gals! This week is being dedicated to marriages in the United States. In fact, every year the week before Valentine’s Day is National Marriage Week. Does this mean we are to be extra nice to our spouse? Do we get presents? Isn’t every week National Marriage Week?
I just had to do some research on why there would be a week such as this. It seems as though various organizations are going to put emphasis on building better relationships, teach how to strengthen a marriage, and perform better problem solving as a couple. That all makes a lot of sense to me, and those skills are certainly well-needed in many marriages. Apparently, churches will offer seminars, workshops, and classes to promote a happier marriage this week.
I would offer my two cents in the matter. I would suggest workshops on how to keep a happy wife….a.k.a. “A happy wife is a happy life”. I would call it Marriage Dance Classes 101, and I would suggest: A) Dishwasher Disco B) Laundry Limbo C) Bed Making Mambo D) Vacuum or sweep stroll and E) Pick up pants Polka. Couples could start out together, and then the husband could take the chore right over.
As I was reading about this National Marriage Week, I discovered it’s more popular and more well-known than I had thought. There is a whole website dedicated to this week with focus on marriage education, marriage events, promotions on the benefits of marriage and family, and resources for help with struggling marriages. Now that I am aware of this movement, I am in full support of anything that brings families together.
My husband says there is only one way to keep a wife happy. It consists of only two words. “Yes, dear.” That solves it all. So, what do you think is the secret to a happy marriage? Until then…..have a monumental Monday, be safe, and I love you!
